TISDALE — The U16 Tisdale Riverdogs won gold at the Hustler Tournament in Saskatoon.

“The U16 Tisdale Riverdogs are on fire,” said Lori Kidney, the team’s spokesperson. “Our U16 Riverdogs had a heck of a weekend, going undefeated in Saskatoon to take home the gold.”

On May 31, the team faced the Saskatoon Phantoms, where they tied 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning with two out. They managed to pull in four runs to win the game 11-7

The next day, the Riverdogs faced Lloydminster, with Stephanie Williams pitching a no-hitter and ending it 9-0.  In the evening, they faced the Saskatoon Raiders and won a 26-2 game.

“Fabulous hitting for the Riverdogs left the Raiders scrambling,” Kidney said.

A 3-0 round robin put them in first place. The Riverdogs then took on the Saskatoon Raiders White in the semi-final round, which they won 15-2.

Kindersley came out on top in the other pool and the Riverdogs faced them in the final.

“There was strong pitching on both sides, but the Riverdogs bats won the game with an 11-2 final to finish first and take home gold,” Kidney said.
