The Humboldt Broncos’ Tyler Smith has decided to step away from the team.

Smith was one of three players that was on the team last year. He thanked the community and team on his Twitter account for making his time in Humboldt welcoming and memorable.

“But after talking to my family, Coach [Nathan] Oystrick and other influential people in my life I have made the decision that I will be stepping away from the Humboldt Broncos to allow my recovery to take place at home,” he wrote. “This was not an easy decision, but just something that I have to do.”

On his own Twitter account, Oystrick thanked Smith for his dedication and commitment to the team.

“Tyler’s perseverance and commitment to being a part of our organization is inspiring to our Broncos family. Smitty, I wish you all the best and look forward to following your success in whatever you choose to do.”
