Tisdale Trojans win national Telus Cup bronze

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans have won the bronze at the national Telus Cup. The Trojans won the April 28 final game against the Calgary Buffaloes in Thunder Bay 3-2.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans have won the bronze at the national Telus Cup.

The Trojans won the April 28 final game against the Calgary Buffaloes in Thunder Bay 3-2.

Four minutes into the first period, Jayden Wiens of the Trojans scored the first goal. That was answered with a power play goal by Calgary's Dylan James three minutes later.  Almost 10 minutes into the period, Davis Chorney then scored again for the Trojans.

Halfway through the second period, Jayden Wiens scored a power play for Tisdale. Then with half a minute left, Carter King scored for Calgary.

In the third period, there was no scoring, but goalie Tanner Martin managed to block a shot from Calgary that would have tied the game with less than a second remaining.

Dylan Ashe was declared the player of the game for the Trojans.

Martin stopped 34 our of 36 shots while his counterpart Jonah Chambers stopped 24 out of 27.
