Tisdale Trojans going to Telus Cup Western Regionals finals

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans are going to the Telus Cup Western Regional finals. The hometown team defeated the Manitoba champions, the Brandon Wheat Kings, 6-1, at their third game of the tournament on April 6.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans are going to the Telus Cup Western Regional finals.

The hometown team defeated the Manitoba champions, the Brandon Wheat Kings, 6-1, at their third game of the tournament on April 6.

The floodgates opened early for Tisdale, with Kalen Ukrainetz scoring less than two minutes into the game. Brandon answered that with a power play goal by Colin Cook a minute later.

Davis Chorney then scored with a power play goal, followed with a goal by Dawson Schaff.

There was no scoring in the second period.

The third period saw Chorney and Ukrainetz score again. Chorney then finished the night off with a power play goal.

Bryson Garton of the Trojans stopped 32 out of 33 shots, while his opposite number Brady Letain stopped 30 out of 36 shots.

The Trojans have won all three games they played in the tournament, earning six points. They’ll face off against Northern Ontario’s Thunder Bay Kings on Sunday April 7 at 2 pm.
