TISDALE — The Tisdale Motor Speedway season is set to begin on June 5 with regular races, and end on Sept. 11 with the demolition derby.

Casey Randall, North East Stock Car Driver Association’s president, said what their season will look like will depend on COVID-19 guidelines.

“I’ve had a lot of people ask me. We’re kind of waiting to see where we’re at,” Randall said.

“We’re planning as if things will be lifted by then, but if not we’ll just have to go with it like we did last year.”

The 2020 season started later than usual and required physical distancing on the stands. As a result, the night race was cancelled due to capacity restrictions impacting the income versus expenses of the annual event.

Randall said this year their hope is to have the same number of races and classes as the years before the pandemic. This includes resuming the night race.

“The fans do like it; it gets quite a big draw. The last night race we had, the stands were full, there were people standing. It’s at the end of August, hopefully by then it’s at a place where we can have full grandstands again.”
