Shawn Parkinson of the Melfort Mustangs block 12 shots on his net, while his opposite number Joel Grzybowski stopped nine. At the 15 and a half minute mark, the Mustangs had a power play, but couldn't take advantage.

The second period saw Jake Hobson score the winning goal. The Mustangs made eight shots, while Battlefords made 11.

Within the first two minutes of the third period, the Mustangs were shorthanded, but they stopped Battlefords from scoring any goals. Battlefords pulled their goalie, but it wasn't enought to tie the game. Both teams made five shots.
