Series tied as Estevan Bruins win over Humboldt Broncos

HUMBOLDT — A promising first period for the Humboldt Broncos soon turned into a defeat as the Estevan Bruins recovered in the second, outshooting them 2 to 1.

Estevan won 4-2. The seven-game playoff series is tied, with each team having won one game each.

In the first period, the Broncos' Owen Guenter scored. The Broncos made 12 shots on net, while the Bruins made 14.

In the second, the Bruins kicked into high gear, scoring two goals and making 20 shots on net. The Broncos made 10 shots.

Early in the third period, the Broncos' Mitch Zambon tied up the game, but halfway through, Estevan scored a third goal. Humboldt pulled goalie Rayce Ramsay in an effort to tie the game again, but Estevan secured their victory with an empty net goal.

Ramsay stopped 36 out of 39 shots made on the Broncos' net, while Estevan goalie Grant Boldt stopped 28 out of 30 shots.
