Season ends for Humboldt Broncos, Nipawin still in it, Melfort extends lead

EAST CENTRAL — The hockey season has come to an end for the Humboldt Broncos. The team lost the fourth game of its playoff series against the Flin Flon Bombers 2-1. The first period of the March 11 game saw no goals scored.

EAST CENTRAL — The hockey season has come to an end for the Humboldt Broncos.

The team lost the fourth game of its playoff series against the Flin Flon Bombers 2-1.

The first period of the March 11 game saw no goals scored. In the second, Flin Flons Zach Bannister got a goal, followed by a power play goal by the Broncos' Karter McNarland. Easton Haygarth sealed the series for Flin Flon in the third period.

 

Nipawin Hawks

The Nipawin Hawks managed to avoid being eliminated with a 6-3 win against the Battlefords North Stars.

There were no goals in the first period. Nipawin's Caden Benson got the first goal in the second, followed by Battlefords' Dylan McCab, Nipawin's Carson Dobson and Battlefords' Seth Summers. The third period was dominated by the Hawks, with goals from Jordan Simoneau,  Jeremy Bisson and Brodie Girod. Rylan Nivon of the North Stars then scored. Nipawin's Riley Bruce finished the game with an empty netter.

The Hawks are 1-3 in the playoff series.

 

Melfort Mustangs

The Melfort Mustangs extended its series lead against the Estevan Bruins to 3-1 after winning its fourth game 2-1.

Melfort's Zach Anderson scored in the first period, Estevan's Eddie Gallagher scored in the second and Melfort's Nolan Kadachuk scored in the third.
