Players from local SJHL teams to see action at SJHL/MJHL Showcase

EAST CENTRAL — Players from the three area Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s three local teams have been selected for the annual SJHL-Manitoba Junior Hockey League Showcase.

EAST CENTRAL — Players from the three area Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s three local teams have been selected for the annual SJHL-Manitoba Junior Hockey League Showcase.

The event puts many of the SJHL’s top players together on teams that compete against their MJHL counterparts. The event will be held Jan. 21 and 22 in Regina.

Team Schwartz – White, featuring 2001 and younger players, includes Humboldt Broncos defencemen Cody Hough and Jackson Bohan as well as forwards Logan Kurki, Tristan Shewchuk, and Karter McNarland; Nipawin Hawks goalie Ross Hawryluk and defenceman Evan Bortis; and Melfort Mustangs goalie Tanner Martin, bluer liner Lucas Ochitaw, and forward Ben Tkachuk.

On Team Kunitz – Blue, one of the 20 and under teams, includes Humboldt forward Luke Spadafora and Melfort goalie Shawn Parkinson, defencemen Nolan Kadachuk and Alex Rondeau, and forwards Kyle Bosch, Tian Rask, and Kenzie Arnold. Melfort head coach Trevor Blevins will serve as one of the coaches.

Team Mitchell – Yellow, the other under 20 squad, has Nipawin Hawks defencemen Jake Lenchyshyn and Max Johnson and forwards Michael Makarenko, Jake Tremblay, and Jordan Simoneau. One of the coaches is Hawks bench boss Doug Johnson.
