The captain of the Nipawin Hawks is encouraging the region to support his hometown Pense in the Kraft Hockeyville 2020 finals.

“Growing up here the rink has played a huge part of my life and it has had a major impact on my hockey career, and continues to do so for others,” said Jake Tremblay in a video posted by the Nipawin Hawks.

“The rink is a staple in the community and it'd be greatly appreciated if you would join us in our quest to become Saskatchewan’s first Hockeyville.”

Pense, located near Regina, is competing against Saint-Félicien, Que.; Tyne Valley, PEI; and Twillingate, N.L. for $250,000 for arena upgrades and the opportunity to host a NHL preseason game.

As one of the four finalists, Pense will receive $25,000 each for arena upgrades and $10,000 to purchase brand new hockey equipment for their minor hockey programs.

To determine the winner of Kraft Hockeyville 2020, Canadian residents 13 and older, can vote for their favourite community online at krafthockeyville.ca. Voting opened Aug. 14 and will go until 4 p.m. Saskatchewan time on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The final announcement will take place on Aug. 15 on Hockey Night in Canada on Sportsnet and CBC.
