Melfort Mustangs acquire 20-year-old Deklan Whillans from Camrose

MELFORT — The Melfort Mustangs has acquired a 20-year-old forward from the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Deklan Whillans was acquired from the Camrose Kodiaks in exchange for a player development fee.

“Deklan is a big, strong power forward who will help our group,” said Trevor Blevins, the Mustangs’ head coach. “He is very well respected by previous coaches and teammates and we’re proud to have him.”

Whillans has played two full seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He spent time with the Camrose Kodiaks, Sherwood Park Crusaders and Spruce Grove Saints. In 84 career AJHL games, he scored seven goals and added four assists for 11 points. He also added an assist in 11 playoff games.

The forward will join the Mustangs for fall camp beginning Aug. 30.
