HUMBOLDT — It will be a major weekend for hockey fans in Humboldt and beyond.
The Third Annual Conexus Credit Union Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament, to be held on Friday, Aug. 7 and Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, will also feature the 2020 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame Induction and a live performance by the Hunter Brothers.
“With two days of golf, we will have up to a maximum of 288 golfers, which we will need based on the number of families involved in the 2018 bus accident, the SJHL Hall of Fame Inductees and the local community,” said Jared Bednar, the tournament’s co-host.
The first day will see a maximum of 144 golfers tee off at the Humboldt Golf Club. At the end of that day, the Hunter Brothers, a country band, will perform.
“When thinking about who to play our concert, the Hunter Brothers were at the top of our list,” said Brian Munz, the other co-host. “[They are] solid Saskatchewan-born hockey players and people who have taken their musical talents to the next level. We are thrilled they fit us into their busy schedule.”
The second day will see the remaining 144 golfers tee off, with the Hall of Fame Induction in the evening.
On the induction list are Bob Beatty, Jared Bednar, Dean Brockman, Sheldon Brookbank, Wade Brookbank, Kelly Chase, Chris Cuthbert, Curt Giles, Elgar Petersen, Brett Stewart and the 2007-08 Humboldt Broncos National Junior "A" Championship team.
Families of those in the accident, SJHL Hall of Fame Inductees and corporate partners have first right to golf, banquet and concert tickets. Registration is now open via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A lottery registration for remaining golf spots, SJHL Hall of Fame Banquet tickets and Hunter Brothers concert tickets will open to the general public Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 via email at email@example.com.
