The Muenster Bantam Flyers won their league championship in an edge-of -your-seat, nail-biter of a game against the Foam Lake Flyers in Muenster last week.
Muenster finished second in the league in the regular season, and got to the league final by beating out teams from Lake Lenore and Kelvington-Preeceville.
Muenster won Game one in the three-game series by one goal on March 21, then hosted the Flyers on March 23 for Game two. Down 2-0 at the end of the first period, things didn't look good for a Muenster victory early on, but they came out ready to win in the second period.
Muenster's Brett Szautner got one goal and team captain Cole Wiesner two more to tie the game at three in the second period.
No scoring in the third sent the game into a 10-minute overtime period. No scoring in the first overtime led the teams to a 20-minute period. Finally, with just 1:12 left in double overtime, Muenster's Nick Anderson got his team the win with a sniper shot at Foam Lake's net.
Final score: 4-3 Muenster.
Just two nights after their league win, the Muenster Bantams played Game 1 of the Provincial Bantam D final.
After beating out teams from Cudworth, Kenaston, and Hague, they faced Coronach/Bengough in the final.
Unfortunately, they lost Game 1 in Bengough, and Game 2 in Muenster, again in double overtime.
