A common sight in the arena every August in seeing members of the Humboldt Broncos coaching up young kids at their annual minor hockey camp.

With the April 6 accident, the Broncos were not in a position to organize this year’s camp.

With that in mind, Carla Clement and Johnny’s Bistro teamed up with the Branding Barn to make sure a 2018 minor hockey camp would still go on.

The camp is set to come to the Elgar Petersen Arena Aug. 20-22.

Clement says aside from the Broncos angle, hosting the camp was important because it also provided the players with a chance to get on the ice at home, noting without the camp she would have to drive her son to a larger centre like Saskatoon.

The camp will be stretched over three days, with players guaranteed no less than two one-hour ice sessions per day.

Players will have the chance to hit the ice with a number of locally known instructors, including current University of Saskatchewan Husky Tyler Borstmayer, former Bronco Parker Wakaruk, and former Bronco and current La Ronge Ice Wolf Antonio DiPaolo.

Clement says having those guys have the kids know and how they have looked up to is important, because it gives them a more comfortable feeling on the ice.

The early bird registration deadline, which comes complete with a workout shirt is Aug. 14, while the registration deadline is Aug. 17.

Clement notes there are currently plenty of spots still available.
