Dodgers fall one win shy of playoffs

The Humboldt Dodgers’ Provincial AA Tier 3 provincial championship did not end the way the Dodgers would have hoped as the club missed out on a playoff spot by just a single win.
The Humboldt Dodgers’ Provincial AA Tier 3 provincial championship did not end the way the Dodgers would have hoped as the club missed out on a playoff spot by just a single win.

The tournament got off to a tough start for the Dodgers, who dropped an 8-4 decision to the Oxbow Orioles on July 27.

After enjoying a night off, the Dodgers returned to action the following morning against the North Battleford Beavers.

Knowing a win would leave the Dodgers in good stead, the club struggled offensively as they managed just a single run in a 9-1 loss.

With the loss the Dodgers’ hopes of a provincial title were dashed.

With one game left to play, and the playoffs not a possibility, the Dodgers put forth a solid effort, as they picked up a 12-10 win over the
Saskatoon Bandit Braves.

The win wrapped up the provincial championship on a high note for the Dodgers, who were eliminated after round robin action after posting a 1-2 record.
