Update
On the second day of play, Humboldt's Mike Herperger shot a plus-one 73 and started day three in a tie for sixth place.
Play resumes today, July 18, with a 7 am tee-off. Winners will be crowned later in the day.

Mike Herperger of Humboldt was tied for first place going into the second round of both the amateur and mid-amateur championships at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club (SGCC).

He left the green on Tuesday, July 16 with a three under par score of 69. Alberta golfers Jared Hundza and Sean Mills share his score in a three-way tie on the amateur field.

On the mid-amateur field – which is golfers over 25 years of age – Herperger is tied for first with only Mills.

Herperger is coming off previous success at the mid-amateur and amateur games, where last year he placed first and second, respectively.

Standings were close going into the second round, with several ties. Play continues today, Wednesday, July 17, with the first tee-off at 7 am.

On the amateur field, Jehremey Ryde of Eston and Josh Nagy of Saskatoon were tied for fourth at two under par. Seventh place is tied between Saskatoon's Dave Stewart, Roman Timmerman and Justin Wood with one under.

The mid-amateur field’s third place is tied between Ryde and Saskatoon’s Shaun Dunphy.

The third and final round will begin Thursday, July 18 to decide this year's winners, who will be crowned the same afternoon.

The top three golfers in each field will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian golf championships later in the summer.
