HUMBOLDT — As a swim team, the Humboldt Hammerheads placed second at provincials.

The Watrous Whitecaps brought home the Betty Lou Dean trophy, going to the small club who generates the most points at provincials, with a total of 452 points.

All participants had to qualify to swim that race in semi-finals last weekend.  The top six swimmers from the north and south in each individual race swam it against each other at provincial finals.  This marks the end of the competitive season for summer swimming.

The Hammerheads brought 37 swimmers to provincials and the Watrous Whitecaps brought 20 swimmers.

Two Hammerheads and two Whitecaps came home with aggregate awards.  Kellie Campbell of Watrous had 61 points in the 7-8 girls category, Charlize Parish of Humboldt had 59 points in the 13-14 girls category and Darren Romanuik of Humboldt and Zak Freeman of Watrous tied with 63 points in the 15-17 boys category.

At the end of the meet, the Halliday Cup went to the South who swam to a total of 3494 points to the North's 2874 points.

The Hammerheads are planning a windup and awards presentation in September.
