Ministerial message: What will be your legacy?

What imprint would you leave or want to leave in this world before departing? Would your legacy speak and positively impact the lives of family, friends or even strangers?

Have you ever asked yourself or considered that at one point in time? Perhaps there would be less time spent on trivial things if it was.

With my father passing away almost a year ago, it has made me consider this question even more deeply than before. A dear woman who had attended my father’s funeral comforted me with these powerful words, “Your father left a wonderful legacy for you and now you can build on that for your children”.

Wow, what a statement. And what healing it brought to my soul! Dad or my parents have given me a great legacy to build on. What legacy can I create with it? What legacy will you make?

Every person in this life has been given a God given purpose and destiny. And truth be told, most are left empty until fulfilling their unique role that God has so carefully designed and crafted for them. Jesus Christ, when he walked the earth, He knew His time was very limited and it was incredibly important for Him to fulfil His assignment and purpose before going back to the Father in Heaven.

Jesus Christ ended up leaving a legacy that has been kept alive for 2,000 years. He carried out His public ministry with miracles, signs and wonders. And even stated that if anyone believes in Him can do the same things He did and even greater.

John 14:12 says it plainly, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”

Legacy. Jesus was leaving a beautiful legacy for his followers to carry out and build on. What an incredible message of hope for them.

The most important aspect of what Jesus came to do while on earth lies in this. He offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for the sin of all mankind. Not only that, He made provision for anyone who believes and accepts Him to have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10).What a spectacular legacy to leave the world.

Jesus Christ is truly God’s gift to mankind and the Father has made provision for this Gift to be available to anyone willing to receive Him. If you wish to receive this free Gift of God please say this prayer with me. Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that you raised Him from the dead. I repent of my sin. Forgive me, wash and cleanse me. I commit myself to Your ways for my life. Guide me in all you have for me to do in this world. Thank you for saving me. Amen
