April 20 I had the pleasure of going to the Annaheim Talent Show and what a great night.

The evening was planned as a fundraiser with the idea being anyone in town could come and show off their talents.

It ended up being just kids, which honestly, I think was perfect.

Not because kids do or do not have talent but because of the message being sent.

The fundraiser was the latest for the Annaheim playground committee, as they look to raise money for a new playground.

The playground, obviously is intended for kids.

So what better idea than to get the kids to help fundraise?

That is important because kids need to be part of fundraising efforts like this, first off, because they should be contributing to help raise money for something they will be benefiting from.

Also it can teach kids important life skills.

Let’s face it, anyone who has ever done any kind of fundraising knows a lot of work goes into having a successful fundraiser.

Now these kids can start to learn some of those lessons as well.

It also allows kids to perform.

It’s almost like a double-whammy.

Getting kids on stage is important, especially for some of those kids who just started kindergarten this year.

Stage fright for a lot of kids is very real.

If we can start them early we can stop them from having such strong stage fright later in life.

As with everything, practice makes perfect.

So good for those on the Annaheim committee, as they not only had the kids help with the fundraising efforts, but they gave them a chance to perform.

Both vital lessons to learn as they start to get older.
