Two-vehicle collision near Carrot River results in fatality

CARROT RIVER — A 25-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle collision near Carrot River.

On Aug. 19 at 06:45 a.m., the Carrot River RCMP along with Northeast EMS and the Carrot River Fire Department were called to the collision scene five miles west of Carrot River on Highway 789.

A 1990 Dodge Dakota operated by a 25-year-old man was travelling northbound and collided with a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder operated by a 27-year-old man travelling westbound on the 789 Highway.

The 25-year-old driver of the Dodge Dakota succumbed to his injuries en route to hospital.

The 27-year-old driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said a RCMP collision analyst attended the scene.

No charges have been laid.
