HUMBOLDT — The Horizon School Division said it has been made aware of a third case of COVID-19 diagnosed at Humboldt Collegiate Institute.

The division said it was made aware of the diagnosis on April 7. Previous diagnoses were announced March 30 and April 6.

“[Public] Health has informed us that these cases at HCI involve Variants of Concern, and the situation at the school has been deemed an outbreak,” said the division in an April 7 Facebook post.

“At this time, Humboldt Collegiate Institute remains open to students and staff following the Easter Break, unless families have been directed otherwise.”

The division said that families at the school are being informed, they are working with public health to assist in the contact tracing process, and it will not provide any more information to protect the privacy of those involved.
