HUMBOLDT — A Humboldt business has received a community involvement award from the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce ABEX awards.

The award was presented to Spotlight Sport and Corporate Wear in Saskatoon Oct. 19.

The local business was earlier announced as a finalist for both the community involvement and marketing award due to their work around a t-shirt fundraiser that raised $300,000 for the HumboldtStrong Community Foundation.

“We’re obviously very honoured to accept that award,” said Mike Yager, president of Spotlight Sport and Corporate Wear. “Especially the fact that this week is Small Business Week, it’s even more of an honour as a small business to be recognized in that capacity in front of the best of the best businesses in Saskatchewan.”

The ABEX awards are the largest and longest-running business awards program in the province, starting in 1984. They serve to celebrate the ingenuity and success of Saskatchewan businesses.

“It’s huge to receive that kind of recognition. Obviously we want to thank each person who has helped us along the way, whether it was through the Broncos fundraiser that we had done last year, whether it’s supporting us on an ongoing basis – our clients, friends, our family, and any kind of support.”
