EAST CENTRAL — The risk of wildfires in all east central RMs – with the exception of parts of the RM of Hudson Bay – is extreme, according to the provincial government.

There are no active provincial fire bans, but a number of municipalities have declared their own fire bans, including:

  • RM of Big Quill
  • RM of Prairie Rose
  • RM of Kelvington
  • RM of Three Lakes
  • RM of Hoodoo
  • RM of Fish Creek
  • RM of Bayne
  • RM of LeRoy
  • RM of St. Louis
  • RM of Torch River
  • Town of Kelvington
  • Town of Choiceland
  • Village of Jansen
  • Town of Bruno

The Melfort Fire and Rescue is asking the public to be cautious.

"Please do not burn or engage in any controlled burning activities," they said. "While fire bans have not yet been implemented in surrounding RMs, we would ask for the public's co-operation in ensuring that fires are not initiated during these brittle and dangerous conditions."

As of 11:40 am on April 24, the provincial government reports there are no wildfires in the region.
