Reminder sent out regarding paying taxes in Melfort

MELFORT — Despite Melfort city council suspending property tax penalties until Sept. 30, the city has nonetheless reminded their residents that property taxes are due on June 30.

MELFORT — Despite Melfort city council suspending property tax penalties until Sept. 30, the city has nonetheless reminded their residents that property taxes are due on June 30.

Residents of Melfort are starting to receive tax notices in the mail and can sign up for the city’s TIPP (Tax Installment Payment Program) in order to divide their property tax total into monthly installments.

“This temporary financial relief has been extended to customers who are struggling to make payments due to a loss of income as a result of current restrictions,” said the city in the press release. Anyone with questions or need of financial relief is encouraged to contact city hall.

Notices of Property Assessment have also been delivered with the tax notices to any property that was reassessed this year. The city also would like to remind residents that any property owners wishing to repeal their reassessment will have to do so in writing to the Board of Revision.

Payments can be made by drop off at city hall, by mail and through online banking.
