EAST CENTRAL — For 2020, The East Central Recorder is the best all-around weekly newspaper with circulation over 6,500 in the province, according to the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association's 2020 Better Newspapers Competition.

As well, the Recorder placed first in the best front page competition for a newspaper with circulation over 6,500 in the province.

The Better Newspapers Competition is held annually to celebrate the best of Saskatchewan's weekly newspaper industry. There were awards presented in 45 categories at a virtual ceremony on Oct. 28.

"We're pleased to win these awards and I thank our staff for the hard work they've done to make this possible," said Devan Tasa, the Recorder's publisher. "I tell my staff that we are aiming to produce the best newspapers of our size in Saskatchewan. This award shows we're going in the right direction, but I think we still have so much more to do to make our newspapers even better."

Last year, the Recorder placed second in the best all-around weekly newspaper with circulation over 6,500.
