CARROT RIVER — A preliminary hearing for a Calgary man charged with killing a Saskatchewan man didn’t proceed in Calgary Provincial Court on Nov. 10 as scheduled.
Fayiah Victor Braima, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the February 2020 death of Sheldon Wolf, 47, of Carrot River.
Braima was arrested Feb. 7 and was initially denied bail. He was, however, released in May on strict conditions including 24-hour house arrest and wearing a GPS monitored ankle bracelet.
According to Calgary Police, Wolf was reported missing on Feb. 3 and was last seen at the Sandman Hotel in downtown Calgary at 888 - 7 Avenue S.W. on Feb. 2 at about 7 p.m.
Calgary Police say they found evidence in Elliston Park connected to Wolf’s disappearance on Feb. 4 so they conducted a search of Elliston Park and then a rural area about 28 kilometres north of the city where they found his body that day. On Feb. 7 an autopsy confirmed the manner of Wolf’s death was homicide. Police haven’t released the cause of death.
Calgary Police also say they believe Wolf willingly met with people he had no previous relationship with before he went to Calgary.
Braima’s preliminary hearing has been rescheduled to July 19-23, 2021 in Calgary Provincial Court.
