TISDALE — Northern Strength Fitness held their official grand opening over half a year after their soft opening.

The event contained a bouncy castle, truck pull and barbeque.

The grand opening took place on Sept. 15. The day marks the one-year anniversary of when Brandon Krawetz, the owner of the gym, first got possession of the building.

The gym unofficially opened on Dec. 19.

Krawetz said the goal of the grand opening was to just show off the building and who they are.

“I felt that there was a need for a community gym that catered to a lot of different people, different variety and it’s something I always wanted to do too.”

Krawetz said he’s happy with the turnout from the first several months.

“It’s been awesome. I’m really happy with the amount of people we have been having in, and the feedback and the friendly kind of environment we’ve been getting built in here and it’s really nice to see the community supportive.”

The gym has a “made in Canada” theme with Krawetz trying to have most of the equipment and products made within the country.

“It’s hard to find everything made in Canada – the treadmills for example. It’s tough finding a made in Canada company, but about 90 per cent,” he said. “It’s sometimes cheaper to buy something cheap and easy online, but when you really want to stick local and supporting Canadian it takes a little time, but it’s worth it. The quality is good.”
