HUMBOLDT — Nominations forms are now available for two Humboldt Broncos Legacy Awards.

These awards are funded from money raised from the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament and organizers are looking to donate two awards of $5,000 to people and projects from around the world.

Laurie Warford, administrator for the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament Trust, said they have already given money to local projects, including H.E.R.O., Humboldt Minor Hockey, the Humboldt Collegiate Institute Memorial Committee, and the Friends of Logan Boulet Golf Tournament, and have sponsored the Youth Involvement Award at this year’s Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerces Mark of Excellence Awards and will be sponsoring two awards through Horizon School Division.

Following the Broncos bus crash, donations came from all over the globe as the whole world seemed to be touched by the tragedy. Organizers of the awards wanted to recognize this wide-reaching help by opening up these awards to projects around the world, Warford said.

“So many people around the world have given to Humboldt and the families so we wanted to give this as a way to give back.”

If the project fits the criteria for either award, which Warford said they left pretty broad, then people should apply. Criteria for both awards fit around Darcy Haugan’s core covenant of making a difference and helping others in your community.

Warford said they do not know what to expect for projects applying for the awards but they are expecting some great applicants.

“There are criteria there, so it could be anything..there could be something out there really unique that could make the world a better place or help a community out.”

Warford knows there are many worthwhile projects out there and encourages anyone and everyone to fill out an application.

Application forms are available on the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament Facebook page or by emailing Warford at hbgolfmemorial@gmail.com.

Applications are due May 1, 2020.
