HUMBOLDT — Kathy Williams spent 20 years working as a nurse in Humboldt, but now in retirement she has co-started Salon Truth to Beauty at the Westwood Shopping Centre specializing in cosmetic and aesthetic transformations.

Services offered include skin revitalization, skin peels, facial treatments, laser hair removal, laser leg vein removal, skin pigmentation, cosmetic tattooing and laser skin renewal.

“I like to think we are offering permanent solutions,” Williams said. “The laser is a permanent solution if it’s hair, if it’s wrinkles – it helps.”

She said the business started out of a conversation with her sister and Salon co-owner Karen Craven.

“I was very fortunate I was able to retire early after 36 years of nursing and I wasn’t ready to just stop everything,” she said.

“I know there are a lot of people going to Saskatoon for these kinds of treatments and you just get tired of driving, I think that was the biggest thing. Everybody could use stuff like this, and Humboldt has not been saturated like the city.”

In time, Williams said she hopes to also include injectables including neurotoxins and dermal fillers for clients.

“There’s a lot of regulation, so hopefully later in the spring,” she said. “I’m not even going to set a date because people will hold me to it.”

The business is set to open its doors in late March to the first week of April.

Williams said so far the response from the community has been positive.

“I’ve been just blown away by the support,” she said. “People are [asking], ‘When are you opening?’ and [so on] – and it’s been so great.”
