The preliminary investigation conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service indicates the male found deceased on Oct. 1 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon died as a result of self-harm.

The coroners service continues to investigate with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Saskatoon Police Service. The family and parties involved have been provided with this information.

According to a report by the Canadian Press Oct. 2, a senior who was last seen walking into a Saskatoon hospital on Saturday was found dead in the facility three days later.

Allan Landrie’s body was discovered on the main floor of the Royal University Hospital on Tuesday night, Oct 1.

Saskatoon police say officers, search and rescue staff and hospital security thoroughly looked for the missing 72-year-old man in the hospital and the surrounding area after he was reported missing.

Police said his death was not considered to be suspicious.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority expressed its condolences to Landrie’s family.

The authority says his body was found in a publicly accessible area of the hospital but declined further comment.

In a missing person news release, Saskatoon Police said through investigation and surveillance footage, they had confirmed that the last known sighting of Landrie was at approximately 1:30 p.m., on Sept. 28.
