HUMBOLDT — Those wondering which businesses would have received a Mark of Excellence award will soon get their answer.
The Humboldt Chamber of Commerce is hosting a video presentation on social media on June 18 to reveal the winners.
“These are businesses that have gone out of their way to be the best at what they do and this is our way of saying thanks,” said Brent Fitzpatrick, the chamber’s executive director.
“Even more than ever, this is the time to recognize those businesses that have had to sacrifice so much in the last couple of months because of the restrictions. This is the time to celebrate them even more.”
Starting on June 8, the chamber will post videos on its Facebook page highlighting the nominees.
The presentation of the awards will be hosted by Fitzpatrick and Stefani Block, one of the chamber’s directors. Fitzpatrick said the presentation will be in a similar format to what would have happened at the original event. The executive director said the presentation won’t be too long.
The original event was set to go on March 18, but due to restrictions the event was postponed, with the chamber waiting to see how long they would be in place
“Now that we have a sense of it, we know that gatherings of that size aren't going to happen yet for some time, we should do it in a fashion that we'll be able to still recognize the excellence in business, but do it in a way that's socially responsible,” Fitzpatrick said.
