Man charged in relation to hunting accident death

A 22-year-old Prince Albert man has been charged in relation to a death of a 23-year-old Prince Albert man in a field 10 kilometers south of Weirdale. Jordan Darchuk died of a gunshot wound after a hunting incident Sept. 16.

A 22-year-old Prince Albert man has been charged in relation to a death of a 23-year-old Prince Albert man in a field 10 kilometers south of Weirdale.

Jordan Darchuk died of a gunshot wound after a hunting incident Sept. 16. He and Austyn Adamko were hunting separately apart from each other in the same area. They were not known to each other. The incident was reported to police by Adamko, who remained at the scene.

Adamko was arrested without incident by Nipawin RCMP Dec. 14 at 12:30 p.m. He has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

He appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court Dec. 15, where he was released with conditions. He will next appear in Nipawin Provincial Court Jan. 24.
