TISDALE — The Tisdale RCMP stopped an impaired driver on Tisdale’s Main Street who tested three times the legal alcohol limit.

The driver was stopped at around 9 a.m. on Oct. 8, after the RCMP received a tip from the public.

“What strikes me is the time of day this occurred, at nine o’clock in the morning when kids are going to school,” said Cpl. Mike Benjamin with the Tisdale RCMP. “So 8:30 to nine o’clock kids are on the roads going to school and you got a drunk driver on the road.”

The adult male was taken into custody without incident, and in custody was found to have three times the legal limit of .08 alcohol blood.

The man is being charged with impaired driving and impaired driving over .08. He will appear in court Nov. 5.

Benjamin said when someone suspects an impaired driver, to pull off to the side of the road if they themselves are driving, and call 911.

“We need to be aware these drivers are out there.”
