HUMBOLDT — A traffic initiative targeting Humboldt’s school zones saw local RCMP stop 35 vehicles for going too fast.
Humboldt RCMP said in a media release that during the late morning and early afternoon hours of April 20, they gave out three speeding tickets, three vehicle inspection notices and 29 written warnings.
“The Humboldt-Lanigan RCMP detachments would like to remind drivers to slow down in school zones,” the release said. “The RCMP presence around the schools serves as a reminder to drivers to follow posted speed limits and pay attention to the road.”
Fines for exceeding the speed limit in a school zone start at $170 and increase with every kilometer over the limit.
