Humboldt’s new council was sworn in at a ceremony at city hall.

The ceremony, which took place Nov. 23, was livestreamed by the city online.

Here is what the new council had to say about beginning this process and being at the table.

Michael Behiel

“I was very impressed with the enthusiasm and the optimism of the new elects. And of course, I’m used to dealing with the re-elected so the new elected showed a lot of real promise and enthusiasm. And I’m really excited about that. I think we’re going to mesh together as a fantastic team.”

Kelly Herperger

“We had our first meeting last night (Nov. 17) which was really exciting to get to know everybody, and looking forward it’s going to be a challenge. But I am actually very excited and for me is going to be a new endeavour. It’s an exciting one because I’m always on that learning curve.”

Larry Jorgenson

“In the last four years, we’ve had some changes at City Hall with staff moving around and people retiring and new people coming. It was good to get a refresher on all the changes that have happened and we’ll see how we’ve come through the last four years with all that’s happened in such good shape that we’re in.”

Roger Korte

“There’s a lot to absorb but with the incumbents back, Jorgensen and Nordick and Muench being on council, there’ll be a learning curve but it will be good. I look forward to getting my feet wet and digging in and getting to work.”

Rob Muench

“We’ve done a lot of good work over the last four years and I’m chomping at the bit to get back at it. We have a really nice cross-section of the community around the table so I’m looking forward to sitting with the new members on council, looking for some fresh ideas and combining that with the experience we have. We’re going to have a great four years ahead of us.”

Roger Nordick

“It was nice to hear the interests of the newcomers to council and also nice to hear how the incumbents feel with the direction we’re going and where they want to go in the future. There is lots to be done and I’m certainly looking forward to the leadership of the new mayor and it’s good to have the experience of the old mayor, as well.”
