HUMBOLDT — After 35 years with the city, Sandra Pauli, the city clerk and director of corporate services, is retiring.

Her last day was May 29.

“Sandra, quite frankly, has been a wealth of knowledge for the city and her experience at City Hall will be missed by all,” said Rob Muench, Humboldt’s mayor, at the May 25 council meeting.

“In talking with some of the other mayors and other city clerks, you're very well respected in the province.”

The mayor said council relied on Pauli to ensure things were being done properly and by the book.

Pauli began her employment with the City of Humboldt in July 1985 to fill a six-month position as a stenographer/clerk to fill a maternity leave. After that, she became the water billing and payroll clerk.

In 1995 Pauli completed the local government administration program at the University of Regina and became director of administration for the then town. In 2000, when Humboldt became a city, Pauli became the city clerk and director of corporate services.

“It's really been a pleasure working with this group,” Pauli said. In her career, she worked with seven city managers, six mayors and 44 different councillors.

Pauli’s replacement will be coming from within the city. Lori Yaworski will serve as the new  city clerk and director of corporate services, moving from the finance manager position.

On her last day of work, city employees and the fire department held farewell parade in her honour down Main Street.
