HUMBOLDT — Those that have questions of the candidates running in the federal election will have their chance at an all-candidates forum being held right here in Humboldt.

The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce will host the forum at the Bella Vista on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. It is open to the general public, free of charge.

“I just think it's important that people in our area have an opportunity to ask these folks some questions and hear about why they're running for office and what their party – and what they – can do for their constituents,” said Brent Fitzpatrick, the chamber’s executive director.

Running for election in Humboldt’s riding, Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek, are Kelly Block with the Conservatives, Jasmine Calix with the New Democrats, Dean Gibson with the Greens, Rebecca Malo with the Liberals, Cody Payant with the People’s Party and independent Glenn Wright.

At the start of the forum, the candidates will give a quick introduction. That will be followed with some prepared questions from the chamber, then the audience will get a chance to ask their own questions.

Fitzpatrick said federal elections are important.

“You need to be able to make informed decisions when you do go and hit that polling booth, so this is just a great way to be able to do that.”
