Humboldt agricultural dealers took to the field for the Humboldt Broncos with their Seed for Green Harvest for Gold fundraiser. Volunteers seeded 105 acres of barley south of Humboldt.

Previous years have brought in between $30,000 and 40,000 for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team, says fundraiser coordinator, Ross Ruedig with around $120,000 raised over the last four years.

All the businesses have been great to work with with donations of time and equipment making the fundraiser a success, says Ruedig, including Pattison Ag. who did the majority of the field work and Country West Trucking who hauled the crop to Richardson Pioneer, says Ruedig.

“Pattison Ag. handled all aspects of the field work this year.  Harrowing, seeding, spraying, picking rocks, swathing and combining. Clayton Air Services helped with fungicide spray. Other contributors this year were Humboldt Co-op, Crop Production Services, Horizon Fertilizer, Richardson Pioneer, Country West Trucking, Knight Archer Insurance and Cooperators Ins.”

The Seed for Green lease is now up, says Ruedig, which the Humboldt Broncos Board of Directors can renew with the land owner.
