HUDSON BAY — The Hudson Bay arena has faced some challenges this year due to COVID-19.
Council approved the closure date for the winter season during their Jan. 26 council meeting. The last day for the arena will be Feb. 12.
Even with no recent hockey games taking place due to COVID restrictions, there were still players and coaches that wanted to practice, said Teresa Parkman, the town’s administrator.
Until that time, the arena will only be open from Mondays to Fridays, she said.
“Closing on weekends then we're saving on staffing on the weekend. They [Minor hockey] were all fine with that.”
The Hudson Bay Lions Club has been sponsoring public skating throughout the years on Thursdays and Sundays but that will only take place on Thursdays in the coming weeks.
