Greg McShannock Tisdale’s new director of economic development

TISDALE — The Invest Tisdale Board has hired Greg McShannock to be the director of economic development for the Town of Tisdale and RM of Tisdale. McShannock has been in the Tisdale community since the 1980s.

TISDALE — The Invest Tisdale Board has hired Greg McShannock to be the director of economic development for the Town of Tisdale and RM of Tisdale.

McShannock has been in the Tisdale community since the 1980s.

“I grew up in the area, went through the school system here right from basically Kindergarten through to Grade 12,” he said.

Afterwards, he became one the owning partners and general manager of John Bob Farm Equipment, an agriculture equipment retailer that was sold to Rocky Mountain Equipment Group in 2018.

McShannock said he’s excited for the new position.

“[I] grew up here, raised here, I definitely care about the future of the town. I have five children as well. Three of them have already grown up and moved away and I want to see more people from that generation about stay here and be in business.”

McShannock said in his new role he hopes to assist new investors and businesses to set up in the area.

“That would be task No. 1 for sure, and also to assist in the commercial and industrial growth in this area. I’d love to be a part of that, it interests me quite a bit to see what we could bring to town that could be beneficial to both the town and area.”

He said it will take time to bring new investors into town.

“I don’t think the economy is as strong as it has been the last couple years, but that doesn’t mean you stop trying. That’s for sure.”

The economic development officer said his first and foremost priority is to support businesses currently in Tisdale.

“I definitely want to get to know them and touch base with them. Being from here helps a lot because I know a lot of the businesses and owners and operators in the area – but I definitely want to reach out and to support and help them with any of their needs as well.”
