HUMBOLDT — A date has been set for the grand opening of Horizon School Division’s central office.
The event will take place Nov. 15. The education minister is expected to be at the ceremony.
“We're honored to have him be part of this process and, of course, to welcome others from the public or anyone else who wishes to be part of our grand opening in terms of observing it,” said Kevin Garinger, the division's director of education.
Garinger added the division was working on inviting its community and First Nation partners to the event.
Before the office was built, the school division rented space from Olymel on one side of Highway 5, while some staff were housed in a quonset on the other side of the highway. The new office houses all of the staff and saves the division money as they no longer have to pay rent for office space.
“We're proud of this space,” Garinger said. “We've never had a single solitary division office that we could operate out of as Horizon School Division.”
