Council has agreed to create a marketing committee for the city.

The decision was made at the Oct. 24 council meeting.

“We’ve started to put together some ideas for some videos and stuff for the city, just to promote ourselves after the Bronco tragedy, just a way of letting people know that we’re moving forward and we want to get economically back on track,” said Rob Muench, Humboldt’s mayor.

“This is something that we should have been doing all along. We haven’t done a lot of it over the past number of years.”

The mayor hopes a committee could help the city attract new businesses and residents, as well as attracting some conventions.

“By getting a group together, we’re hoping to get some input from other groups in the city and residents just to figure out where we need to go from here.”

Muench said there hasn’t been a lot of financial resources devoted to the committee yet, but it’s something to consider while creating next year’s budget. He added that the city will also have to create marketing materials to promote the city in China.
