HUMBOLDT — The city will light an artificial Christmas tree during next winter’s holiday celebrations.
In years past, a natural evergreen tree growing on the front lawn of City Hall was decorated.
“Unfortunately, the tree has imperfections and is awkwardly located between City Hall and the library,” said a report to council.
The new 24-foot artificial tree, a second-hand one from the City of Swift Current, will cost the City of Humboldt $5,000 plus $1,415 in shipping.
“Being that it is artificial, Administration could strategically place it in the centre of Civic Park where there is more space surrounding it and be a heart-warming focal point of our City not only for our residents but for travellers passing through on Highways 5 and 20,” the report said.
