“We understand that removing of the ice will be symbolic in different ways for different people in our community," said City Manager Joe Day in the press release, “We want to allow individuals and groups the opportunity to visit the arena prior the ice being removed.”

No ceremony or event will take place before the dismantling but the city is encouraging everyone to pay their final respect during Uniplex hours until April 26.

Flowers, posters, flags, and momentos that have been left and sent from around the world to be placed on centre ice will be put on display on the arena glass, said the release.

The Humboldt Uniplex will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. this week.
