EAST CENTRAL — Kelly Block, the Conservative incumbent for Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek, has been returned to Parliament.

At the time of writing, Block had received 10,569 of out 13,218 votes counted. So far, 80 out of 184 poll boxes have been counted.

“I'm overwhelmed, really overwhelmed with gratitude to the constituents of Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek who once again put their faith in me and voted for me to be their voice in Ottawa,” she said.

Nationally, a minority government is being projected, with the Liberals having the most seats. Block said she was waiting to see all of the votes come in before commenting.

“Once we see how the numbers shake out, we'll know I think more will have a better picture of what that means for our team,” she said.”

The newly reelected MP said she was excited to see what was happening in Saskatchewan for her party. Saskatoon West, whose incumbent is the NDP’s Sheri Benson, had Conservative Brad Redekopp ahead of her. Regina-Lewvan, which was held by Erin Weir, who was a New Democrat, saw the Conservatives’ Warren Steinley far ahead. In Regina-Wascana, it’s looking like the Conservatives' Michael Kram will defeat long-time Liberal MP Ralph Goodale. Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River, held by the NDP’s Georgina Jolibois, is seeing Conservative Gary Vidal ahead.

The Bloc Quebecois has made a resurgence out east, going from 10 seats to around 30. Block said that was a possibility the polls have pointed out.

“I guess it's going to be very interesting to see how things unfold at the very end of the day when all of the counts are in,” Block said.

Block said tomorrow, she’ll be resting to recover from the campaign – though she added there’s still work to be done to close her campaign office.

“We worked very hard. We didn't take anything for granted. We were out there every day, knocking on doors, talking to constituents, attending events.”
