KINISTINO — A 23-year-old man from James Smith First Nation has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm after a single vehicle rollover seven kilometers north of Kinistino.

Melfort RCMP and Melfort Fire were called to the scene at 5:05 p.m. of Aug. 10. The police’s initial investigation indicates that a half-ton pickup truck with four occupants – two men and two women – had been travelling northbound. The driver lost control and the truck subsequently rolled.

Two of the passengers received what were described as being minor injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

The third passenger was transported via STARS Air Ambulance to Saskatoon for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the truck was transported to local hospital, treated and released to RCMP.  He will make his first court appearance in Melfort Provincial Court on Sept. 24.

Fire crews remained on scene to control traffic while an RCMP accident reconstructionist worked to record the scene in detail.
