HUMBOLDT — A local car wash opened its wash bays to help a local school raise money for its new playground.

On Sept. 21, St. Dominic School washed cars, sold raffle tickets and served burgers at D. Classen Concrete Pumping.

“Darryl Classen actually approached our principal Chad Knaus about opening up his car wash as a fundraiser and to do a barbecue in conjunction,” said Cathy Zimmerman with the playground committee. “We just went ahead with the idea from there.”

Bev Classen from RE/Max also sponsored the barbeque.

“We have had a super successful day,” Zimmerman said. “The carwash has been steady the entire time. We've had tons of people out at the barbecue.”

St. Dominic is working to add additional playground equipment on the senior side of our school.

“We are hoping that we will be able to install equipment this spring.”
