NIPAWIN—The Nipawin Lions have cancelled their 2020 trade fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The trade fair was planned for April 17, 18 and 19.

Brian Starkell , Nipawin Lions’ president, said the event typically raises about $15,000 per year.

“We put on the trade fair, of course, at the Evergreen Centre and we put over 100 booths there,” Starkell said. “That’s the major fundraiser that we host or put on and we donate the money back into the community.”

He said that the cancellation of the show will result in the Lions not having as much funds to give back to the community for the 2020 year.

“Not that we want to do that, but under the circumstances we’re forced to do that,” Starkell said. “We just want to thank everybody, the displayers— everyone in the community for their support in the Lions club over the years since 1967.”
