HUMBOLDT — A local restaurant is offering help to beat the extreme heat.

A&W Humboldt will provide cold bottled water and allow people to sit in their air conditioned dining room as long as the temperatures remain extreme.

“The community is better if we all work together,” said Colleen Cornelius, A&W’s general manager, on July 14.

“There's some people in the community who don't have access to air conditioning and, believe it or not, cold water.”

A&W started doing this on July 2, a day that saw temperatures reach 34.8°C. Environment Canada is predicting that temperatures will go into the low thirties starting tomorrow and continue for at least the next five days.

Cornelius said she’s also willing to drop off cold water for those that are unable to make it to the restaurant. She can be reached at 306-231-6622.
