HUMBOLDT — For community members who want to purchase or view local art, the Humboldt Members’ Show and Sale featuring 36 artists and 93 works will be at the Humboldt Gallery until Nov. 6.

These artists include 11 new members of the gallery, and one youth member.

All pieces present are for sale with a price range from $25 to $900. Once sold, the pieces will remain on exhibit until the end of the sale at which point they can be taken by their respective collector.

“I think this is a very important show for us at the gallery, because it allows us to support artists whether it’s professional artists, or emerging artists, [or] youth members,” said Jennifer Fitzpatrick, director of Humboldt’s department of cultural services.

“It really presents their work and a lot of them the opportunity to sell their works to the public and really have people contribute to the support of artists in our area.”

Different styles present include acrylic, oil, water color, mixed media, glass art, ceramics, paper maché and photography.

Fitzpatrick said viewers will get to see a wide range from abstract, to landscape, to portrait, and florals.

“Each member is allowed to provide up to three pieces in a specific area, and then they choose what goes into that space,” she said. “It’s unjuried, a way to show the dynamic group of artists that we have in the area. It’s really open and accessible to all.”

In lieu of being able to hold an opening reception due to Covid-19, Fitzpatrick said the gallery will be posting short videos of each artist and their works on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

“We really wanted to promote our artists to the community. So if they can watch our social media pages, there will be more information there.”
